Gala Days

Kingsport Gala Days

Enjoying the ‘Test of Time’

Gala Days is an annual celebration that takes place in Kingsport on the last Saturday in the month of June . It is organized by the Kingsport Community Association and sponsored by residents and local business.

The community comes together to celebrate the beginning of another summer season in Kingsport with  old fashion family days. Summer residents have returned and they join with permanent residents to participate in events at the beach, in the park, in the village hall and the  local church hall.

The day begins with coffee and muffins, a bake sale and displays in the Lloyd Memorial Center. Lunch is served in the church hall, usually chowder and strawberry short cake, all home made. You have to come early as this is always a sellout event.

The afternoon begins with a parade, made up of marching bands, antique tractors, clowns, and local acts and sometimes, visiting princesses.

The Kingsport Art Society can be seen through out the community painting at various places. Their paintings are on display in the Lloyd Memorial Center later in the day. Always a treat to view.
