May Newsletter 2017

With Kingsport showing signs of spring, community events are heating up as well.

The third Gala Day meeting will be held on Sunday May 7th starting at 1pm at the community hall.  Planning for a number of events is already on the way with volunteers stepping forward to lend a hand.  But as always, more volunteers are most welcome.  The very popular Bake Sale is definitely on as well as the Chicken BBQ, the community parade, the beach run and displays at the hall. A local 4-H group will also have a display. Information, updated as we get closer to the 24th of June, can be found on our website

Saturday, May 13th, 2017 is Beach Clean-up Day at the waterfront.   There was a great turnout last year resulting in a cleaner and more attractive beach area.  This year volunteers from the Valley Credit Union are donating their time to help with the clean-up.  If interested, please plan to meet at the waterfront around 9am armed with rakes, garbage bags, gloves and perhaps a grass snipper or two.  Coffee will be available and perhaps some muffins.

The Tide’s In Canteen is slated to open in the latter part of May.  There are two summer student positions available and resumes are now being accepted.  Please check the information on our website

Have an idea how Kingsport as a community can celebrate Canada 150?  One community-minded resident has offered to create a large cake, with the official Canadian emblem that we can share. Another has suggested a “Picnic in the Park”. Perhaps we can combine these ideas and add others? Anyone interested in coordinating this? Send your ideas in an email to

The KCA BOD will meet Monday May 15th @ 7pm.

The KCA General Meeting will be held on Thursday May 18th @ 7pm.
