Kingsport Community Association

The Kingsport Community Association was organized on November 4, 1977, its objective being to work towards the betterment of the community. In those early days, pie socials and card parties were held to bring residents together and to raise funds for community projects. The current Pleasant Street Park & Playground was leased from the county for the purpose of creating a community gathering place. Picnic tables were placed in an area near the beach and a set of steps was built to facilitate access to the beach. A seasonal clean-up program was established to keep the beach and surrounding area looking great. Those early members of the executive dedicated a lot of time and effort getting the association underway. Their efforts were much appreciated and the current executive strives to continue their work and vision.


The KCA is a charitable organization and the money raised by the association is dedicated to the operation and maintenance of:

  • The Lloyd Memorial Center for community use
  • The water front park and wharf for community use
  • The picnic/ball park for community use
  • Programs that enhance community life
  • Bursaries that advance the education of youth in the community
  • Programs that provide assistance in time of disaster or extreme difficulty
  • Programs that honour and preserve the heritage of Kingsport
  • An EMO Comfort Center opened in times of emergency



The Tide’s In Canteen

The KCA operates a business, the Tide’s In Canteen, on the waterfront. The canteen operates during the summer months and its profits are used to support the cost of charitable activities in the community.
